live life to the fullest
Today was supposed to be Marathon Monday…an exciting day that kicked off the Boston Marathon, as well as our beloved MS Run the US relay in LA. Runners all around were both anxiously awaiting as it marks a very special day…not only for the 16 runners apart of MS Run the US and support team, but as well for the many who participated in the Boston Marathon. I now turn on the news and see chaos everywhere as we learn of the bombings in Boston. I sat there is tears watching the news unfold and quickly check to make sure one of our relay runner’s who was in Boston today was safe, along with our founder/my sister Ashley Kumlien and our first runner Chellie was safe in LA as the news said that LA and other major cities were on lock down. All parties are safe and I pray that anyone else that knows someone that was in that area gets the same clarity.
I sit here and I pray for all the people affected by this, and I pray that God be with this world now more than ever. Today history was supposed to be made…we started our relay run across America. As a runner, and I’m sure my fellow relay team will feel the same way..but this hit close to home. This is a time when we all need to unite together now more than ever. We need to make it clear that in a world full of fear, chaos, disease that there is good. There are people out there that care. We care. We are going to continue to run and fight for a cure, people are going to come together in Boston, first responders will put their lives in danger to help someone else. There is good in this world. Every time something bad happens, we need to remember we are not alone. We have friends, family, and most importantly God who will be there to guide us through.
So tonight we should all take a moment of silence to remember those who died today, and keep those who our injured in our thoughts and prayers. And mostly, go home tonight and hug your loved ones. Let the people you care most about know how much you love them. Don’t ever hold back from telling someone you love them because you never know when your last day may be.
