RUNNING FARTHER TO SERVE OTHERS

Team Jill

Team Jill is a community of individuals committed to fundraising for multiple sclerosis, inspired by Jill Kumlien, mother to charity Founder, Ashley Kumlien.  Jill’s positive attitude and contagious spirit for life has inspired the following Team Jill members and hundreds of others to create positive change.

The Family

The Kumlien Family has been fundraising for the MS Society-WI Chapter since 2007 through the Waukesha County MS Walk and MS Run the US, Inc.  Jill’s spirit and positive outlook on life, despite her disabilities due to MS, is the spark that ignited her children to fundraise for the cause.  It’s Jill’s daily inspiration that fuels the Kumlien Family and many others to continue tireless efforts to fundraise for a cure.

Ashley Kumlien – Founder – Charity Director

Photoshoot_yellow_12Ashley is the Founder of MS Run the US, Inc. and the solo endurance athlete that ran the inaugural 3,200 mile U.S. crossing from CA to NY in 2010 for the charity.  As a life-long runner, Ashley turned ultramarathon runner for the benefit of the charity’s mission to raise disease awareness and funds for a cure.   In 2010, Ashley became the 16th female to run across America.  She currently continues to run ultra long distances and continues to cross off personal accomplishments from her ultra running bucket list.

Professionally Ashley followed her love of fitness and received her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse in Exercise and Sport Science.  As owner of Fitness Journey, LLC. Ashley operates a fitness boot camp and offers personal training to inspire, encourage, and assist others to get active and stay healthy.  On any given day, Ashley’s work clothes are likely made of 98% spandex, and she feels there is absolutely nothing wrong with that.

Aaron Schneider – Project Manager

As Project Manager Aaron works directly on a wide array of tasks within the charity.  More specifically, Aaron has a strong influence with project planning, partnership engagements, coordination of resources, systematizing communications, evaluating applications and volunteers, and gathering valuable information for Ashley and MS Run the US, Inc.

Personally and professionally, Aaron is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point, and Account Executive for a staffing consultant firm in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.  Originally from the picturesque community of Door County, WI, Aaron takes great pride in living a healthy lifestyle, and enjoys sharing his love of nature and adventure experiences with others.  An avid outdoors-man and runner, Aaron spends much of his time backpacking, camping, and participating in both road marathons and ultra-distance trail running.  On occasion Aaron thinks he is more awesome then Ashley, but that is basically not true.

Amy Monroe – Volunteer Coordinator

Since the inaugural run of MS Run the US, Inc. in 2010 Amy has been a big supporter of the charity and mission. With a close, personal connection to the MS cause, Amy has been a constant advocate for the cause and has personally dedicated many volunteer hours to the WI-Chapter of the MS Society through the Generation Optimistic group. Because of Amy’s previous involvement with the cause, fundraising event development skills and her fun-loving personality, she was an easy candidate to consider for the role of Volunteer Coordinator.

Personally, Amy lives in the Milwaukee area with her fiancée, son, and their two dogs, and spends her free time volunteering at her community Middle School in the Art department. When Amy is not giving her time to the development of community programs, she enjoys time with her family, being active, dancing, singing, and loving. Amy is also originally from the South and still carries a soft southern accent, but we promised not to hold that against her.

If you are interested in volunteering for MS Run the US, Inc. or hosting your own fundraising event, please contact Amy.

Kristin Stelter – Charity Ambassador

Kristin is a “people person” and self proclaimed running addict who has the ability to talk to just about anyone she meets.  It is this quality, coupled with her passion for running and personal connection to MS, that led her to MS Run the US, Inc.

The Chicago-area native enjoys spending quality time with her husband, sharing her love of running with others, and competing in various running events across the country, but it is her close, personal connection to the MS cause that drives her to be a strong public advocate for MS Run the US, Inc.
